Leona graduated from an Administrative Assistant program with a bookkeeping focus. She has 14 years of experience as a bookkeeper where she has familiarized herself with all aspects of good accounting practices. Three of those years she operated her company, the Mobile Organizing Business Service, for a variety of small businesses and spent seven years with a high technology company as Finance and Payroll Administrator. Budget tracking and reconciliation were a part of her role as program coordinator for her four years at Hollyhock Learning Centre and two years at Malaspina University College Continuing Studies.

As a facilitator for women entrepreneurs, she developed workshops in costing products and bookkeeping for small business. Her work life also includes 15+ years in administrative roles and is especially proud to have been a part of the Light Rail Transit System project in Vancouver and a Canadian International Development Agency project for the South East Asian Nations.

Leona is Metis of Cree descent from Manitoba and has spent the last 20 years in British Columbia. She is pleased to have been a “Child Abuse Prevention Program” facilitator for the Red Cross at a First Nations youth camp; a volunteer in a youth wilderness camp with the Haisla nation; worked on an Eco Tourism boat in Haida Gwaii; and coordinated and facilitated a public speaking program with First Nations women in the Comox Valley.
