Chase Creek Road to Chase West and Jade Mountain Cultural Heritage Assessment

Chase Creek Road to Chase West and Jade Mountain Cultural Heritage Assessment

Building on previous training and mentorship, Kwusen continued working collaboratively with the participating Secwépemc Parties to complete a CHA project regarding the Chase Creek Road to Chase West and Chase West to Jade Mountain Four-Laning Projects.

This CHA project saw Kwusen staff researching in conjunction with community members and continuing to provide ongoing mentorship with community researchers as a means to build capacity within the Secwépemc Parties' communities to successfully conduct their own research. This Cultural Heritage Assessment was designed to assist the Secwépemc Parties in assessing the potential effects of the proposed Chase Creek Road to Chase West and Chase West to Jade Mountain segments of the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s Highway 1 – Kamloops to Alberta Four-Laning Program on Traditional Use Values, opportunities to exercise rights, the proposed Project’s contribution to cumulative effects, and effects on the broader Aboriginal Rights and Title of the Secwépemc Parties.
