NationsConnect Launches in the Yukon with Carcross/Tagish First Nation

NationsConnect Launches in the Yukon

Sarah Boivin, our Digital Services Manager, had the honour of participating in Carcross/Tagish First Nation’s (C/TFN) Land and Water Proclamation Event in Carcross, YT on Wednesday, March 30th 2022. The Proclamation provided notice that any uses of their lands, waters, and other resources within their Territory must be validly sanctioned by their councils and follow FPIC (Free, Prior and Informed Consent).

C/TFN asked Sarah to introduce our consultation portal, NationsConnect, as a tool C/TFN will be using to implement the principles and direction of the Proclamation, provided by C/TFN Clan Elders. The portal will provide a place for C/TFN to engage directly with other Nations, governments, its own citizens and all who are seeking to engage regarding C/TFN territory. We’re excited that NationsConnect is going to be part of a new approach to managing C/TFN’s territory.

This marks the launch of NationsConnect in the Yukon, now ready for industry and government users to sign up and send consultation and engagement requests to Nations using the portal. NationsConnect is now live in BC, Ontario and the Yukon.

Congratulations to C/TFN on the Proclamation Event and we look forward to working with NationsConnect users in the Yukon in the months ahead.
